Rules
IFAB Laws of the Game
The International Football Association Board Laws of the Game apply to nearly every soccer match in the world. However, the Laws of the Game are almost always modified by the local leagues and clubs to better suit the age of the players and the level of play involved. Our club recognizes rule modifications from NMSA, MSYSA, and our own RNYSA rules.
If you want to truly understand the rules of soccer, learn about the IFAB Laws by browsing the IFAB website, downloading the convenient Laws of the Game App for your mobile device, or downloading a PDF copy of the 2024/2025 Laws.
NMSA and MSYSA Rules
Our travel teams play under the Northern Michigan Soccer Alliance rules, and our rec teams play under Michigan State Youth Soccer Association rules. RNYSA rules further alter the MSYSA rules for our rec games, but NMSA rules are the last word on travel ball.
NMSA rules can be found here and MSYSA rules are here (game rules begin on page 12).
MSYSA rules make reference to the USSF Player Development Initiatives, which can be found here.
RNYSA Rules
RNYSA has our own set of rules that we play by, based off of the MSYSA rules and tailored to meet the needs of our local club. We are currently finalizing our rules and will update this page when they are done.
